Of Notice: I promise because I have been slacking quotes that I will have a blog post dedicated to them at the end of the year.

Blog: I'm perturbed. I'm bothered. I'm infuriated. I'm angry. I'm any other synonym of angry, in any other language, you can come up with. I don't know where to begin so I won't. I don't know where I'd end, so I'm going to avoid it by not beginning. To summarize the situation, I'm so angry I've started writing poems, I haven't been in a solid poem writing mood since November, that's how angry I am. So here they are. The two poems I wrote for the day (they don't have anything to do with suicide or anything, so don't worry).

When Last We Left Off...

When last we left off, our young hero was counting down the days until his seventeenth birthday, tired, but excited about life. He had just hooked up his record player, explaining his listening to Elliot Smith (the New Moon album), the sole record in his possession. When last we left off the young, strapping lad who wrote this blog still worked but was feeling the beginnings of the overwhelming that was to come. When last we left off, our young hero was still, for lack of a better word, a hero.
What did we miss in these three months since his disappearance from the cyberrealm? A significant amount, shocking, but when viewed with the realization of the hyper-time at which one's high school career occurs, it is really no suprise. We missed a little bit of love then falling thereof. We missed a birthday, which is, for many reasons incredibly important. We missed working and then a solemn vow of unemployment until the glorious free summer returned. We missed conversations about the most grand and important concepts and the more important conversations about the simple, unimportant, juvenile, and colorful. We missed words, sentences, paragraphs, essays, novels, volumes, series, encyclopedias of the knowledges, fears, braveries, feelings, guidances, philosophies, bravados, curse words, beautiful words, tears (just a few), smiles, frustrations and joys that our hero experienced.
In the last three months we have missed a significant amount about our hero. But, when one looks through the eternal, even temporal, view of what was really missed, it was nothing. A birthday? One of sixty more to come. Philosophy? Small by comparison of what has already been thought when last we had contact, but even more miniscule in what is yet to come. Tears? We have oceans more to pour. Smiles? Laughs? Barrels upon barrels to fill. Frustrations? Angers? We have only felt the beginnings. Happiness? Worlds to fill.
Then what truly have we missed? Time? Time is nothing more than a fleeting illusion, and odds are, if you're reading this it could be spent on something else, and if spent on something else, one would not be reading this. So do what you wish, after all, what are you using? Time? Time the perpetual river that we live in. We think it is important. We think others are wasting it, spending it wisely. After all, we tell ourselves, you can never gain a second back. But what is one second to trillions? Nothing. What is three months to the two hundred and seven that have been lived so far? Negligible, and based on most advanced math, negligible means basically infinite, or the answer you got. So do we really have to care about time? After all, time, wasted or used (productive wasting) ends up the same way, in a history book.
So have we really missed anything since we last left our hero who didn't know what it was like to be seventeen and only had one record to his collection? Not particularly, because now we are left with an older individual who doesn't know what tomorrow feels like with five records in his collection. When last we left our hero hadn't quite figured out the opposite sex, and upon returning we find that he still is completely confused. When last we left our hero he was how you looked at him, and upon returning we find that he is still a person, all depending on the angle.
When last we left our hero, we never really left him, he was still us.

Lazy Post (My Argument Essay)

I'm really lazy so I'm forgoing everything (you'll have to look forward to a really awesome post in the near-future). However, listen to Elliot Smith because he's amazing (especially Miss Misery), and I got my record player working.

Without further ado (adu?) I give you my argument essay on arguing:

Arguing
It all starts with a difference of opinion. Then, the paths slowly diverge, the opinion is not only different, but also right. Your opinion, after a short while, is not only right, but all opinions not in accordance with your own must be wrong. Then a passion to enlighten the uninformed or uninterested individual begins. This leads to the vocalization of one’s own opinion (which is most certainly correct). This vocalization is followed by argument, the most trivial pastime of man.
Argumentation is not only the expression of two differing opinions, but the hammering of those views into its opponent. Arguing with an individual is much like yelling at a boulder on the opposite side of a valley; nothing ever actually happens. You are intent on staying where you are and the boulder is not going to move in the foreseeable future. You can yell, scream, cry, deduce, research, and construct the perfect argument of why the boulder should come over to your side of the valley, but all that reaches the boulder’s ears is an unintelligible and irritating buzz. In my personal experience, you could in fact be right. The view might actually be better, the grass greener, and your side is safer from a landside that is hurtling itself down at break-neck speeds towards the boulder. However, the boulder likes its view, is comfortable with the hue of the grass around it, and is pending suicide by landslide.
Man enters all of his arguments with such preconceived ideas in which he has no intent of changing. In fact, in psychology, there are two phenomena called confirmation bias and belief bias. These phenomena are described as man’s tendency to search for information that confirms his preconceptions (confirmation bias) and his tendency for his personal beliefs to distort his logic (belief bias). It is in this mindset that we, as members of the species Homo Sapien, argue. We find illogical conclusions that support our own beliefs, which in turn, concrete them further. It is in this mindset that we watch presidential debates. We already know whom we are going to vote for, we just like the warm fuzzies that come from the self-verification of our preconceived ideas.
“If arguing is so pointless, then why did Martin Luther King Jr. help bring about equality for minorities in The United States?” you ask. I am not downplaying Mr. King’s significance in bringing about equality, far from it in fact. I admire Mr. King for his devotion to Civil Rights and peace. It is with this in mind that I tell you that King never succeeded in arguing his point; rather, he brought attention to the rampant inequality plaguing 1960’s America. Every individual in The United States already had an opinion of Civil Rights, it was just never brought to their attention that they had one. King did this with his large marches and televised speeches. Although many people in America (myself included) believe that Mr. King was a great man who brought about a much-needed change, I must say that he could never have argued the need for Civil Rights. A Klansmen from the Klu Klux Klan did (and still does) not agree with anything he did. They find his logic illogical and completely contradictory to his or her beliefs. Nearly forty years later, there are still Americans who have not changed their opinions about racial equality. These people, much like you and I on this very subject, are boulders unwilling to change. No amount of education or passion about the aforementioned topic will change their views.
It is for these reasons that I argue to you that arguing is pointless. Man never has, and most certainly never will, change his or her mind because of an argument. I am well aware that my argument will never change your mind, instead, it will bring to your attention that my point is either revolutionary or completely idiotic. I can yell, scream, or write countless essays arguing my point, but you, much like myself, will sit on your side of the valley with your preferred hue of grass enjoying the view.

New requirements for a girlfriend (or a serious woman relationship):

No hahalols in text messages. That is correct, I invented a new word, hahalol. Hahalol-derived from the phrases haha and lol respectively. When one uses haha and lol near eachother or multiple times in message, most notably those found in intercellphone "text" messages.
Has cool friends-Friends are important, and hating your heterosexual highschool partner's friends makes things difficult.

Blog: The year may be new, but sadly, school is not. My grades still suck (although they are getting significantly better). I still talk to most of the same people, and eat the same lunch. Its wonderful autonomy all over again. Aahhhh school is back in full force. Nothing like it. I'm actually eating three meals consistantly again. I just wish it were summer already.

I don't even know what to talk about next. School? Nah, that hasn't changed much. Hot girls I know? Nah, girls don't like me. At least I don't think they like me that way. Girls like me, I'm a major hottie, I try to be nice, and I fancy myself as a rather entertaining individual. I can't talk about a new episode of The Office because the writer's strike. PROJECT RUNWAY!!!!!!!

Yes, Project Runway has started a new season, and although it has been going since December I just learned that it started recently. My sister was fortunate enough to turn it on and tape the ones we hadn't see that were showing in a marathon. I was very happy. I like the straight guy and the Iranian guy. Of the girls I like one named Kit. She's fun and happy and reminds me of a stereotypical Graywhale customer. That might be one of the reasons I like her. Anyways, I'm very excited. I've watched six hours of Project Runway in two days. The world, for that time, was perfect.

That is '07 in a nutshell. Of course you could read about half of it in this blog if you wanted.

Goals for 2008 (resolutions never happen):

Keep a journal (I think I'm going to use part of my Border's gift card for this).
Woo girls that meet the requirements I specified in December.
Run for some student government position (Student Body President(?))
Enjoy life.
Get accepted into college, and feel good about where I'm going.

Blog: Christmas break is ending and school begins tomorrow. I find this rather depressing, I wish break could go for four more months and then we could start summer vacation. That however isn't going to happen so I did the homework due tomorrow. Fortunately, physiology isn't due til Friday and I'm done with all of my English assignments.

I can't believe everything that is going on. In a few months some of my friends go off to college, my ward is going to be strange when school starts this fall. I've made friends with some of the kids younger than me, but my friends when I moved here are all going away this year. First, it was my cousin and now he is on his mission (nearly a year out), then it was another person (who was once my friend), but now it is my closest friends. Especially my (if I put titles on my friends) best friend who has been basically adopted by my family. Its really saddening. I'm getting old, all the things I figured out when I was in 7th grade are starting to happen. Plans are frightening when they happen after being planned for so long. By the end of 2008 I'll know what college I'm going to attend in the fall, its nuts. I don't even know what my major is going to be (I know that sounds really trivial, but I like to think about trivial things), right now I'm thinking about Linguistics with a minor in Psychology. Of course, that'll probably change tomorrow. Everything is happening so fast.

Well, I best be getting off to bed, getting up for school tomorrow is going to be interesting.

My Dearest Friend,
Man is designed to care, our greatest feature, our most fatal flaw. We care, we cannot control it, but we care. You say you don't care about anything anymore (I have your blog open as I'm typing this), "[you] don't give a crap about anything anymore." Actually, you care about not caring. Do not let this become your passion. To put it into your own words, you give a crap about not giving a crap. Never let yourself become so focused, so caring, on not caring that you amputate yourself from the body that is mankind. A limb is meant to be attached ninety nine out of every one hundred instants. You, Friend, you are meant to be attached. I know what it is like to want to be away from people. You can read my thoughts on that throughout my blog, listen to your own advice, and let me say from experience, it is much better to be attached to the body the purposely amputated from it.
We are what we are. We can only do so much, which unfortunately, in the big picture is very little. Accept that. Let yourself do what little anyone in the world can do, then let the rest take care of itself. Let the uncontrollable things in life wash over and baptize you in their pain, sorrow, and joy. Let the uncontrollabe problems be just that, uncontrollabe. Treat them like the weather, adapt to the days demands and nothing more. Often times we treat our problems much the opposite. We attempt to change them, to tackle them by ourselves or with others. I say we should share them with our friends, or keep them to ourselves, do what little we can and feel them flow over us, let us be born again through them.
That is all we can do. Don't you understand? Tip the ball and hopes it falls the direction we want it to. The former statement still enlarges and exagerates the amount of control we have over our problems. All we can really do is pray for a weather change which may never happen, but we can only hope, and until our long awaited sunny day, we must dress for the weather.

Blog: I'm currently engaged in writing a song on my guitar. Its not amazing, the guitar part is really pretty, but I'm having difficulty witht he lyrics. Blog: ***This is my naturalist essay I wrote for English, I thought it was pretty good***

I stared at the sky. The endless, near infinite, expanse of gray-blue that makes one feel small. On this quiet September afternoon I pondered the objects in the sky. There are many of them; shirts left on a dirty floor, white on top, a dusted gray on bottom. They float, snowballs filled with helium, like opaque balloons that refuse to come down. They are the little wonders we call clouds.
Clouds, like any other thing in nature, must be observed long enough for one to notice their magnificence. A cloud is not one organism but a conglomerate of numerous individuals each attempting to blend in. Each hulking herd moves slowly, lumbering past other members of its race without a wave hello or a slight nod. Each cloud-herd dwells in complete isolation from those outside it. Each herd passes without knowledge, self-obsessed with how it looks externally, whether it is fluffy, shaped correctly and so on. “Are we white enough?” cloudlings wonder, “Are you with them because I know I’m with you, and if I’m with you and you are with the rest, then I must be with the rest.” So the cloudlings continue to fuss, focused on the trivial logic of being together, so focused on the mass.
On a rare occasion, however, I noticed a cloudling break free of its invisible bonds, a small wisp in the middle of giant herds, floating in a sea of blue. This individual cloudling lasted for a second before it was consumed by another mass. Then another wisp would break free, only to be absorbed by a separate collective entity. Then a thousand wisps broke free, “I am me, not all of you,” they say as they collide to form the mass of I-am-me-not-all-of-you.
So I see it is with society. We wander the vast expanse of life so consumed with our own appearance and involvement that we are completely ignorant of someone else a hair’s breadth away. We lumber, all of us, part of a living mass, a collective conscience. Then, on rare occasion we assert our individuality. “I am an individual!” we exclaim proudly, “I am not a clone!” and then we break free like a wisp in the sky, only to be reabsorbed by another mass. “I am a reject,” one says. Each “reject” wisp then congregates to form a mass of “rejects”. So it appears when a group of “individuals” who go against “societal norms” dress the same. They dress different than myself, but the exact same as their comrades.
It is then I realize, underneath the clouds, that we are never truly individuals. We can reject, accept, or change whatever we would like and for a moment we may be individuals. Then, in a blink of an eye, we realize that once again we are the same as those around us. So when someone says to me, “At least I am original.” I often think of clouds.

Blog: Let me be deep later. I'll post my essay (which I like) later. I'll do a lot of things later, just let me be normal. I'll be thoughtful tomorrow, deep the day after. Today I want to be unthoughtful and totally shallow.

A couple people have been saying that I won't get a girlfriend because I'm too picky. This is true, although some myths, such as that my significant other needs to be a model and a genious are untrue. I will create the list, to verify all the questions, and dispel (and prove) assumptions and thoughts that one would have about myself, and my standards.

So it begins. The list. In no particular order, but some can be modified.

Sense of humor-whats the point if she doesn't laugh?
Inteligent-geniuses (or geni) are scary, but a little brain in the ol' noggin never hurt anyone. Your head is supposed to store more than air.
Likes my friends-yes, even the retarded ones. Especially my nerdy ones.
Relaxed-likes to chill and not worry about anything.
Not controlling-lets me be me and doesn't automatically assume things that are completely ridiculous.
Has a cell phone-I found that it helps, having had many relationships vicariously through my friends.
Appreciates silence-when conversation dies away, its ok. Enjoys the quiet times by herself.
Open-will talk about what needs to be talked about, doesn't hide things.
Knows a little about video games-understands basic concepts (such as they system should be turned off when switching games on a Nintendo 64 etc.)
Likes herself-its no fun having to constantly reassure the person in question they are pretty or something like that.
Adventurous (so not spelt right)-likes to try new things.
Enjoys food-eats good food, likes sushi and other exotic dishes.
Has common sense-eliminates (or greatly reduces) the occurance of "Are you kidding me?" moments.
Doesn't limit-Never uses "I'm blonde" or "Thats just how I am" as an excuse. Doesn't classify herself.
Knows about music-pretty self-explanatory.
Good-looking-good-looking to me and tries to keep herself looking nicely.
Self-confident-not arrogant. Accepts when she is wrong, knows when she is right.
Doesn't have a personal bubble- maybe not as extreme as me, but not a compulsive three foot box person.
Fun-likes to put herself out there, likes to have fun. Doesn't mind looking stupid at a friend's house.
Not embarrassed by me
Excepts me-odds are, I'm not really going to change, much.
Understands-knows when its time to be serious, and when to joke.
Enjoys being with me-doesn't care if we're just hittin' it up on the couch or partying with some friends. Likes the fact that I'm there
Independent-Doesn't mind doing different things from time to time. Lets me go off on my own and fully capable of doing the aforementioned by hereself.
Accepts Life-knows that somethings don't change, and some do.
Doesn't do drugs
Inquisitive-asks questions and likes to learn
Thinks learning is more important than a GPA
Appreciates the little things-a raindrop. a walk, sunshine. Likes the nice things that usually go unnoticed.
Liked by my friends and family-not really all that good if noone else likes you.
Doesn't get offended-if I do something stupid lets it go, if someone says something offensive, forgets about it.

Being a supermodel would help too. So there you go. I'm picky, may I never stop being so.

I've been really lucky on this trip:

There were no lines!!!!!!! (Yet, I still have to fly home)
I haven't made my cousin cry.
I finished Ender's Game, and I will finish 1984.
I met a way cool guy.
I had a good dinner (that wasn't really lucky, I knew it would be good).
I totally fell in love with the Wii (but I still like the Xbox 360, the internal struggle is so intense).

Movie Review:

Dan In Real Life- Finally. Finally. Finally, I saw it. Finally. It was awesome. Relatively intelligent humor, Steve Carrell is better than he is in the office. There isn't any sex or naughty things like that and its clean basically. You just have to see it. 4.5/5 stars

Blog: Tomorrow I leave North Carolina to arrive at my home. Strangely, North Carolina (or rather the area I'm in in it) is home to a world famous whitewater park. Who would have thought? So of course, being the wannabe whitewater junkie that I am, I took a lesson with my Dad. It was really fun even though its like 50 something outside and the water was 50 degrees. I totally lost feeling in my hands, but it was awesome. I'm probably coming back next summer to for a week to do some more lessons, then I will hopefully be able to go on a couple weekend trips with some friends. I'll even break the rules and let some girls go if they want (naughty, well, kinda naughty).

Blog: Yes, I am doing the worst thing one can do on Thanksgiving weekend, travelling. My mother says I should be a tigger instead of an eeyore. So here is my positive outlook:

I get to fly six hours and wait in forever long lines in airports!

I get to go make one of my cousins cry (not on purpose, I'm just too witty)!

I get to go to North Carolina!

I don't know why I would be excited about that one!

I get an awesome Thanksgiving Dinner!

Blog: I decided, approximately thirty minutes ago that I needed to learn more. That I wasn't quite where I wanted to be, so, I tore down my story that I had been writing over the last two weeks (nearly 9 pages) and threw them away. I decided, I haven't read enough. I haven't figure out language enough. So, I went through my house, pulled off ten or eleven books that I decided to read, ranging from Benjamin Franklin to Walden and sat them in a pile. I have also devised a new regiment that I will attempt to follow. It is as follows:

I will, over the next few months base most entertainment on literature.
When I am not doing homework, I will be reading
When I am not reading, I will be writing
When I am not writing I will be playing guitar.
I will only watch T.V. to watch: House, Heroes, The Office, and possibly Cold Case, or something special with the family.
I will limit video games played to 2.5 hours a week (they promote creativity for me, I think so)
I will only be on the computer, other than the reason specified, for posting, checking e-mail, and writing or doing homework. Other computer-based activities will be added as I enter phase two

This is to begin immediately and last for the next few months. Wish me luck, and if you have any book recomendations, please add one at any time and state the reason why.

Movie Review: Trapped by the Mormons-A 1922 anti-mormon propaganda silent film. Lets just say its absolutely hysterical. The missionary dude looks like Dracula, and he has two evil missionary cronies. People being thrown of stairwells, and such lines as "Moonbeam" and "She is just jealous because you are so fair. So fair and delightsome" make this possibly the greatest movie ever made. 5/5

Blog: You never really get a break anymore, and I'm only writing because I started getting ready to go to work (we are doing inventory) earlier than I was actually supposed to. I have recently started the "Gentleman's Think Tank" with two of my friends where once a month we go out to Lunch or Dinner and discuss matters of religion, girls, life, psychology, and philosophy, or whatever else takes our fancy. This is all I can say about it for right now.

Blog: As I sat in English today amongst the intelligent, irritating, awesome, and the interesting, a topic came up, Daisy in The Great Gatsby. In the novel Daisy understands everything that goes on, she knows her husband is cheating on her but she chooses to act oblivious, and idiotic. In fact she goes so far as to desire that her daughter grows up to be a "pretty little fool", someone who is unaware of everything that goes on.

I have noticed this, to some extent amongst people, mostly girls, who wander the halls of my school. Many intelligent girls who are intelligent and quick witted, but they choose instead to be percieved as dull and ditzy. I began noticing this my freshman year and have been even more aware of it in recent events (if you read the post about my sister). A few of those girls are in my class, and it continually frustrates me, forcing me one step closer to a cliff. Are there not a thousand others who would gladly take inherit their natural gifts? Are there not an endless number of souls who crave intelligence? Natural ability? But these selected individuals throw it away, or at least disguise it, destroy it.

So, I raised my hand. And in a much more polite fashion related Daisy to these girls who I have so oft seen. That is when I learned the most fantastic information. It wasn't just me (and my friends who I pointed it out to), but a plethora of others who have written books, books, and done psychological studies, actual studies. It was the most liberating feeling, it wasn't just me, there were others who noticed the neuropsychological plague. The greatest feeling of all, was that it had a name. The Ophelia Complex.

Of course this also affects men, but it has a greater occurance in those of the female sex. Who would have thought that my ideas would have a name?

My sister is treading down a rather bad path. It started in junior high, she acted like the people I always hated. The ones that would procrastinate til' the end and never turn in homework. My sister was like them (although rather milder), and now she is worse. She just doesn't do her homework and she fights my mom on everything about it. So of course, my parents finally decide to punish her. She has to learn, I have a horrible GPA (3.55 :( ) but I'm in hard classes, and working. She simply doesn't turn in assignments.

The really sad part is she doesn't understand why my parents are upset at her. She isn't as talented as me (academically speaking) but she is still a competent "A" student. She is capable of doing very well in every one of her classes (Interior design? Human Bio?) but she refuses to try. And of course, when my mom finally comes down on her she freaks out. My parents gave her two years in junior high to not do anything, something I never had. For me it was always, "You are making habits for high school, I don't want to see any more of this" for her it was, "Its ok for junior high, but in High School I expect better." She had two free years and now she is mad because she doesn't do anything.

She is probably talking on the phones to her friends saying how evil her parents are. I know people like her, its not cool to be smart. I understand them perfectly. It just so happens that I sit next to a possible future for her in Physiology.

Currently he has a 1.0 GPA and cheats on everything. Today he and his friend (Gaymeisters #'s 1 and 2) came up with the idea to cheat by texting Google the questions. Its completely unbelievable, it didn't work, at least I think not. That is a possible future for her, one of those people. One of those people that I can't stand. Because, all her friends are those people. It's a shame really.

*I haven't found any websites that say exactly what I want them to about the etiquette of dating. Mostly it is just one end of the spectrum or another. So here it goes.

Remember that a date is not hanging out. You are with your date
No matter how good of a friend is on the same date with you, you are still with your date and as such, you should remember to get to know your date and not the latest gossip.
Do not try to get into another person's car because your friend is in there.
Let the young man be a gentleman.
Dance, have a good time, not matter how bad your experiences as a six-year-old were.
Do not text at dinner, or any other time during your date. Because your date has his cell phone to coordinate with the rather large group he is in, does not mean that you should use your phone to text your friends and family members.

Blog: Homecoming, where do I begin. I guess I should probably begin at the beginning, that way the reader(s) will be able to decide if it is just me, or in fact, my date, or the Date that was the problem.

Planning the Homecoming date was incredibly stressful for me because most of the young men, being young men, in my group are horrible communicators. I had to get everyone together, make everyone plan, and of course, solve the myriad of problems that would come our way. One of these came at ten o'clock in the morning on the day of our date. We were supposed to have four video cameras for our video scavenger hunt. One guy was supposed to bring two video cameras, however, he woke up to find that one was missing (his dad had taken it unknowingly). I had one hour until I was supposed to be picking up my date. I called everyone I knew and eventually had to settle for just having three video cameras. That was ok, not a big deal.

Keep in mind, my group was comprised of nine couples, eighteen people in total. This meant, seven individual cars, three separate groups for our video scavenger hunt, three dinner groups, and an incredibly difficult time communicating to everyone what to do. So, of course, it was absolutely neccessary for me to have my cell phone with me. I made sure only to use it when I had to call someone in our group to coordinate or answer a question.

I made my way to the door, rang the doorbell, where I was greeted by my date, Lisa. I was then taken inside to meet her family, and then we left to meet at the park. Upon arriving at the park, we found the pavillion was taken, so we relocated to a grassy area. Two of the couples, one of whom was in charge of buns didn't show up until an hour later, which was scary, but ended up being ok because the burgers weren't ready yet.

My date has a friend that was also in our group. Her name is Ashley. I think I greatly underestimated their "friendship" if you want to call it that.

Once we were done setting up and the food was underway, my date ran off, and hung out with Ashley, at this point I decided that not going out to dinner with Ashley and her date was a good idea. After lunch, we split off into groups for the video scavenger hunt (which was way fun). Of course, Ashley was in our group with her date, and one more couple was going to go into my car. Ashley and her date were going to go in her date's car. Simple, we would meet at the nearby mall, and our entire Homecoming group would meet back at the park in a couple of hours swap stories, give our camera's to the camera master, and then drop our dates off to get ready. Easy. However, my date didn't really understand what a date was.

"I'm going to go in the car with Ashley," She announced to me.

"WHAT?" I had never heard of such an obscene idea, going into a car without your date. What in the world?

"Yeah, I have to make sure she doesn't do anything bad with her date," She said matter-of-factly.

"No, just get into the car, lets go."

"But I want to go with Ashley." I couldn't believe it, I was getting into an argument about whether or not my date should be in the car with me. Did hell freeze over? Fortunately, the couple in the back intervened, and she begrudgingly sat down in my car.

We met up at the mall, and had a lot of fun getting followed by mall security and videotaping ourselves doing crazy things. I dropped my date off, edited most of the videos, fought through post-BYU Homecoming traffic, and forgot to pick up her corsage. My parents, being the wonderful people they are, picked it up for me because I was already running late.

I picked up my date, and somehow, it managed to get worse. She texted the rest of the night. TEXTED! What was going on? Was her brother, or her sister, or Ashley buying her dinner? No. It was me, and all I ask for is some interraction. Ashley didn't even have her phone with her ( I know this because my date told me, don't you think she could pick up on that hint?), of course, Lisa still texted her phone.

We then went to the Homecoming dance where my date refused to dance. This was probably the most painless part of all of it because I was kind of able to ignore her, not dancing, and mess around with friends, who were dancing.

We then made our trek to the house of a kid in my group named Eric. Once we got there, all she did was talk to his sisters, text, and talk to his parents. Everyone was talking with their dates and eachother except myself. I then brought her home (to rid myself of the torment), and listened to music.

It was unbelievable. I should have handed her 60 dollars and she could have gone by herself, with me driving. At least then I would have been able to do something more worthwhile.

Get phonecall reminding me that I missed one friend's drum solo (oops :-(
Participate in Spanish clean-up, meet and talk to cute sophmore cheerleader.

Try to call/text "primary" friends
Find out that friends have gone to some girls house
Go to other girls house
After making some phone calls, find out what girls house.
Call girl (D-walk answeres) try to convince him to give the phone to "primary" friends
Hear, "Its ? Don't answer it."
Text one "primary" friend , "If you need to talk call me. I heard you on the phone, I can go down to 's house and we can talk there.
Within thirty seconds, recieve phone call from one "primary" friend

Thats how the first part of my Friday night went. Of course then our conversation proceeded:

"Dude what's up? What's your problem?"-Me

"Nothing."-Him

"You didn't call or text, I went to the stag dance because I thought you were going to be there. What the heck?"

"I don't know"

"I heard you guys on the phone, what's going on?"

"We thought you could take the hint."

"A hint? What do you think I am, a girl? Dude, I don't play pussy games, be a man. Tell me straight up, if you don't want to hang, just let me know, I went to the dance, it sucked, but I thought you guys were going to be there, thats why I went."

"Sorry, we won't do that next time."

"You could at least tell me, 'Oh sorry I forgot' or 'Go to hell' or something, I don't want to have to play these girl games with you."

"Sorry, just thought you could take the hint."

"What? That I should go to hell? Just tell me go to hell?"

"Umm, well, I guess. See, Casey (girl) was just sick of Albino and he was bugging her, and she told us not to say anything. And yeah."

"So Casey is worth Albino and my friendship? Is that what your saying?"

"I don't know, its not just her, its like twenty other girls. It was like all or nothing."

"So a bunch of silly girls are worth two people who have been your friends since freshman year?"

"Umm, I don't know."

"Well tell me right now, just tell me 'Go to hell'. Why didn't you just say something?"

"We didn't want to be rude."

"You didn't want to be rude? So hiding like little girls was better?"

"Umm. I guess not, it won't happend next time."

"So you were to pussy and didn't have a backbone to do anything? To tell me to 'Go to hell' straight up?"

Sit down, watch Mean Girls.

This is how I realized that it is better to not have friends. I knew it was coming (see previous blog post), I just didn't know when. To be honest it sucked, it sucked bad. To wake up the next morning and realize that out of your five "core" friends one remains, and he almost doesn't count (primarily because he's your neighbor). It sucked, but life moves on, and so, by default you must too. This is what happens to me, I always get screwed over by friends. Always. The first time it sucks. Than you think it doesn't really matter, and it happens again. It may be different friends, but it happens (see first post). It is a law of the universe, I always get screwed over. It is a fact I'm just realizing. A fact that has come to me just barely, something that won't change. I always get screwed over.

Now one must understand, I don't have a love interest, so a lot of the time I would put into a relationship I put into a friendship. Obviously some people don't care that much, they only care about themselves. Only whats important to them, how it makes them feel. Now they "feel bad" for what they did. They "feel bad" four days later, and think they can make nice with Albino and relay a message? I think not. So as these invertebrates crawl through school, scuffling to and fro, approaching me as if nothing happened, that because they feel like crap they need to apologize. I don't do something to fulfill self-righteous desires, just because they want to feel good. It takes a lot more than words, a lot more than words to erase that night. A lot more than words to erase the deeds done, the words said, the feelings felt, the time I layed on my bed and wanted to cry. It takes a lot more than words. A lot more than anything to erase what happened, to recover something before that time. They should try filling in the Grand Canyone, it might be easier. I do not get screwed twice. Never. Not anymore.

A friendly wave from across the street? So what if it might have been wrong, the erected middle finger felt good. For once, I'm doing what made me feel good, without thinking how they felt. Now I know, I don't need friends. I thought I knew it once, but now I know.

Friends screw you over. Suck up your time. Always pretend to be fine. Lie to your face. To save them some. Forget when you were there, what you have done. Forget what they did, why they're there. Forget the support, how you relied, how they depended. And all your time brings back nothing. Zero dividends, zero benefits, you might have well not worked.

That is why having no friends is better. My nights are free, I have not obligations. All I have to think about is me. Besides, sometimes the price is too high. In the words of a once-friend:

Blog: I always think at night. Keep me up late enough and I start to wax philisophical, like really philisophical. I don't know why, I just do. I think better, maybe because of the lack of external stimuli, maybe because I feel alone.

That, however, is beside the point. The unexpected glue that held us together is gone, who knew? Who knew that he was the glue? No one, not even him. Now we are slowing breaking apart. The most determined piece is gone. But the rest of us? The rest of us who hung in there together, who did favors for one another? We are breaking, crumbling, falling apart. We like most things put to time are eroding, blowing away, becoming no more.

We, those who fought, those who stood by, those who sacrificed. We are becoming no more. I feel it, I know it, it is gone. What was once is now lost. Forever, never, we thought we were clever, but now we are not. Not but lost memories, lost thoughts, lost dreams, lost hopes, lost aspirations. We are I, a million particles of sand, crumbled from the mighty mountain that was Us. We are but not, and woe is us. Woe is our memories, woe what we were!

Fracture-Anthony Hopkins plays a brilliant engineer who kills his wife, and plans the perfect alibi. According to my dad the movie is really realistic in its portrayal of some aspects of law, especially the law terms. Although it does have a problem with language, which doesn't add anything, its still really good. 4.5/5

Blog: Today I had a very personal talk with my Young Men's leader on certain premises. Of course, I was very upset that I had to talk to him because it involved me apologizing for something I did not believe was wrong. This of course, as an apology always does, involves a long personal talk as aforementioned (I love that word).

In our talk my Young Men's leader told me that I was a leader. I'm not really quite sure where he gets that. Why does he see something that I don't? I'm the one who spends twenty four hours a day, seven days a week with me. Why does he see this?

He told me that people gather around me, that people like me. How can this be so when the people I really want to continue to be my friends leave me? Ho can this be when so many people don't like me?

How can I be a leader, when I apparently am not? How can I be a leader when noone listens to me? How can I be a leader when I'm practically invisible, when I don't exist?

Blog: For the past week I have told my friends that I would be spending some of my weekend in Idaho. "What's in Idaho?" they always ask, and to be honest, I am still not quites sure. I do know however, that there are naked people in Idaho. After rafting down a river my family, and my dad's friend's family decided to go to Skinny Dipper Springs. As it turned out, this is very appropriately named. Upon hiking up, and ignoring the puking people near the lower hot spring, we came accross a couple who, were completely naked. The suprising thing was that they weren't old. I had always been told that there is good naked, and bad naked. For the most parts, nudist beaches, which were primarily old people (supposedly) were bad naked. I found this quite amusing, and I told my dad I would've joined them, but then my mom said, "But then you realized your mother was here?" Which was the correct reason why I didn't join, not to mention the couple looked like they were trying to be romantic and stay private.

One step closer to being a nudist. Not to mention, the definite highlight for everyone on the trip.

Blog: Today marks day two of the "slump", and the day of Mark's birthday (no pun intended, if it was it would be more horrible than it is). Today actually went suprisingly well because I didn't have much time to think. For mutual we did an awesome thing, we went rafting downt the Provo River.

Of course when one brings 13 boys age 12-17 and five adult advisers, things are going to get crazy. In this case, I started out as the Captain of our vessel, much like this dude:

Of course, I was much better looking. As I attempted to steer my crew through the treaches of the River, I became a participant in a mutiny. Unfortunately, I was the mutinee. My motley crew would not listen to my commands, and lost all faith in my ability to lead. This ended horribley with me being pushed off the raft. My crew, being the just men they are, did rescue me, and pull me back into the raft. However, I was totally 'moted by a much less good looking pirate named Captain Francis. So, being the 'moted, and unloved captain, I tried my hand at motivating them. This involved sayings such as, "You are weak, but I will make you strong." "Today we do not die in vain," and the wonderful, "My brothers, we may be outnumbered, but we are faster, and in our numbers we are stronger!!! So pull with all your might, and ONWARD HO! We are few but we are strong!"

Oh the days of being a pirate. I was granted my captain spot back, but then usurped once again, but this time by a better looking pirate captain. I was also taken advantage when my defenses were down, and consequently, pushed into the River by an old man who pirates part time. Normally he's a gastrointestinologist, but we just say he is a but doctor. He is Bro. D. I got taken advantage of so badly, I fell in because of a gastrointestinologist who pirates part-time! Of course I am stil alive, and making plans for another voyage. PIRATES, CHARGE!

One would simply wish it, and it would be set in place (most handy when dealing with the female sex)

Blog: This week was good, just plain old good. Much along the lines of "Okey dokey" "Pretty good" "Fine" "A-O.K." or just plain, "O.K." Nothing exceptional has happened, and it doesn't seem like anything exceptional is going to happen. It's just been, "O.K." and I'm not quite sure why. I just can't figure out what I need to happen, I mean I have a few things I would like to happen, a few things I want to happen, but nothing I need to happen for those want to's and like to's to become real. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It seems, with all of this going on, I must be entering into my monthly slump.

For those of you who are either unaware, or uneducated in the manner, I tend to go through what I like to call the "monthly slump". Think of it as a mini-depression. The one time a month where I temporarily let down my care-free facade, and become overwhelmed by one thing or another. In this case, its my failure to achieve what I would call the "exceptional life." My failure to live a life, or be the person that is considered exceptional. I consider this life to be:

One that is enjoyed
One that is capable of teaching others
One that is lived to its fullest potential
One that doesn't need anything else

An exceptional person is:

One who is truly himself
One who is comfortable with who he is
One who is confident
One who can learn
One who loves (Romantically and otherwise)
One who is loved (Romantically and otherwise)

How do I acheive this? What am I missing. Well, I can tell you somethings, but how do I achieve the things I'm missing? There are a lot more than just the fairly obvious ones, what is the the path to being exceptional.

This, is of course what I thought about today as I layed on my trampoline. This is, of course, what I couldn't tell my mom when she asked me what I was thinking about. How could I?

What to do When a Friend Irritates You:

Blog: It seems as though sometimes things changed unexpectedly. Friends come and go, people move, and others simply don't change.

I had some friendly chats with various people today, and was suprised to see how much things have/have not changed. Everything is different, it is a truly wonderful and exciting experience. I don't see the same people I saw "all the time" last year, and I keep bumping into people I hardly knew last year. Mostly I think this is a change for the good. Certain people move on, others simply won't, I continue onward. Some people change their lives fast, others slow, others never.

Here is what I would do if I were me:

First and foremost I would go with the flow. I simply need to observe and adapt, this brings into the four goals of a psychologist: observe, descirbe, explain, control. I bolded the last one because I find it particularly frightening when you think of it out of context. If I learn about what is going on I can control it, if not, oh well.

Secondly, I would enjoy. A great example of this would be my wonderful fall during English today. I leaned a little too far in my chair and made a slow, five second descent into the person behind me. It was absolutely wonderful, embarrassing, but wonderful. I would enjoy every good thing that came to me, and enjoy some of the negative things that were closer to being good also. I would just need to enjoy the moment (and all past moments, and hopefully all future moments as well).

Thirdly, I would most definitely let majorly fine chicks come to me. This semi-ties in with the first thing I would do if I were me. I find letting them come to me a much better alternative than for me coming to them like a dog, crawling, drooling, completely submissive, and without any common sense, not to mention the urge be pet. Now one must remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder (which, in this case, is me). Majorly fine chicks can be fine on the inside, although the outside is nice. This hopefully, would prevent myself from looking like more of an idiot than I already am, of which I nearly did 5 times today.

Fourthly, I will do what I can. There is only so much time in a day, an attention span, and waking hours to do everything that "everyone" wants me to do. If I were me (which I am) I would simply do all I can, and leave the rest up to chance. Although it seems that there is a certain expectation of perfection, this is entirely impossible. One can only do so much and stay sane. Everyone has a different sanity-work-tolerance level, of course one needs to figure out what that is first. If I were me I would make a habit of only doing what I can and not worrying about the rest. Perfection comes with luck, which sometimes I am lucky enough to have.

If I were me, I would definitely follow this advice. It seems that Me has some trouble following it, and I definitely wants Me to do so. As for chicas (and potential chica-friend people) that will have to be for some other time. I and Me will have to argue about it...

Blog: School began with full force, and as the projected workload continues to expand I had to do something very hard. I had to entire into a semi-retirement. I pretty much had to stop working because I couldn't handle it. I would come home from school, do homework, go to work, and do homework during work. It was crazy. I was already getting behind so I had to tell my manager, it was sad, but she was ok with it.

Other than my tremendous workload I really enjoy my classes. All of the subjects are totally worth the homework, especially AP Psychology. In another week or so, when I finally figure out who is in my class I will do a HLA ("hott"ness level assesment). I guess "hott" girls aren't really what school is about, but it helps (a little). School is great and I'm really looking forward to this year.

A little update on my job, my manager got a boyfriend. Its really funny because she is 5 feet tall and he is a little over 6 feet. We had a funny conversation about him because when I saw him and her in the store I wanted to sing "Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne. According to my manager he is, "Hott on soo many levels." This of course is absolutely hysterical when you repeat it to yourself and say, " [Guy's name] you are hott on so many levels." What isn't there to love.

Life has been hectic, but it will get better. Except of course, we aren't good enough for him. Not sure why? We must be too original or something. Oh well, he can be a clone and have a heterosexual high school partner that is, in reality, just a collective conscious of various individuals sectioned into one body. At least my thoughts only belong to me (but then again, who would want them?).

Blog: Here I sit. The summer has been long, interesting, boring and fun. Unfortunately, the time I was relegated for freedom is almost out. At 7:00 in the morning I will drive up to my wonderful High School and once again enter a very regimented enviroment. Thanks to the newly instated block schedule at my school, tomorrow is going to be complete chaos, as swarms of students fly frantically through the halls going to incorrect classes. I will once again do work, talk to people, and see people who I have not seen since the end of school.

Fortunately for me, this means that I will be able to get to know people who I did not have the opportunity to hang out with. New friends? Quite possibly. A few more friends never hurt anyone. The reason why I am so confident I will have to get to know different people, is because I do not have any classes with anyone I have contacted. This is sort of exciting as I venture into the unknown, the new frontier.

One problem does arise, and school has not even started yet. A friend of mine has been very different lately. He's always wanted something, something more, and I think he sees us as a limiting factor. He won't talk to me much, he won't talk to any of us. He wants something that we can't provide, he wants the women we don't even know. Its not just her, he wants all of them, and we are holding him back. We aren't smooth, or good looking, or "normal" enough for him. And in his view, only people who are just like him, smooth, good-looking and "normal" can do what he wants to, can hang with them.

If thats what it take for them, I think I'd rather not. I would rather stay an individual in the tide of similarity and sameness. A brilliant green or a crimson red in the sea of drab grey. Being the same is too boring, but it does have benefits. The see of grey houses them, and others, many others like them. Dull, similar, those who hide their individuality to fit in, to attract the other grey ones. I would rather be a different color, and attract other individuals, and together, we will form a brilliant rainbow. A brilliant lake of color in the sea of drab grey.

Blog: People were supposed to come over at 7:30, currently it is 8:37. So now that I'm currently alone, away from friends, I've decided to take the time to post.

Alone. According to dictionary.com, alone has many meanings, here are a few:

(adj) Separate, apart, or isolated

(adj) Unique, unequaled, unexcelled

(adv) Solitarily, Solely

(adv) Only, exclusively

Currently, I think I embody all four of these definitions. I am isolated, and apart from all of my friends and other people. I am unique (in a heck of a lot of ways). I am currently writing solitarily, and I am currently solitary (for an unforseen period of time). I am the only person in the room.

What is the magic and mystery behind being alone? Being completely isolated, away from everything? What is it, about just being, being different, and in four different ways, being alone? What is it that drives us to be alone, and fear it at the same time? Is it that we are afraid of ourselves? Afraid of what we might see when we can only focus on ourselves instead of others? We must be afraid, why else would we seek to be constantly away from ourselves?

Being alone doesn't scare me. But realizing how many different ways I can be alone does. I guess reading Eclipse sort of does that to you. I realized that I can barely get girls that I like to talk to me, let alone want to turn into a monster for me! I can't even comprehend it. Its so completely foreign to me, to have someone (that isn't related to me) say, "I love you," and actually mean it! How strange and awesome that would be, a completely foreign experience.

The idea of being alone also meaning unique, is fitting. I'll be the first to say that I'm weird, which, implies some degree of unique-ness. The sad thing of being unique, is there is no one to share your unique little world with. No one who can understand. One day there may not be a need for explaining everything you see. Its incredible how a million people could look at the same rock and 99.9% of those people would see it completely different. Everything means something different, even as something simple as a song line or a book. The author or writer may not even have thought that something could mean a certain thing, but people go through and see it completely different. In both cases, the author and the reader or the songwriter and listener, both people are right. They simply see things differently. Some see things more similar to the "average" person than others. Those people are not alone, at least in someways, in fact, they are not alone at all. They are joined by other "clones" who do not seek to be original, who force themselves into a mold. I know, that I am different, that I see things different than everyone. In my mind, in the same world everyone inhabits, I am still alone. Even if everyone were to look at the same thing I was, I would be alone.

I am alone, physically, and mentally. Figuratively, and literally. I am alone, am I afraid of being alone? Sometimes. Do I understand that is impossible not to be alone, no matter how hard I try? Yes. So world, life, bring on the loneliness, wave after wave. Because the more the sea of different things wash over me, the more chance there is to finding someone similar, someone, who is also alone. Someone who rejoices in finding someone in which they no longer have to be alone. Someone to share their world with. Someone who can accompany them in the see of loneliness, where they will never feel lonely, because there is someone always there. Someone watching, and wishing.

Hot Rod-A comedy along the lines of Napoleon Dynamite (except incredibly worse). The movie was funny at some parts, but most of the time it was pretty stupid. 3/5 stars

Blog: I am currently in Cancun,Mexico (good thing), however, classe schedules have just come out (potentially good thing) and for some retarded reason, my once 3rd period AP Calculus class has been removed, and not replaced (really bad thing). I will not under any circumstance take AP Calculus AB. I want to take BC, where I can pretend to be smart, and flaunt my imaginary-smartness in front of everyone I know. On top of all that, I have a Spanish keyboard (not bad, I used them in Bolivia, and quite enjoy them) that thinks it is an English keyboard (horrible thing, at least for me). Thats correct I have a confused keyboard. A translingual keyboard. Why? Because currently the God of education has decided that I should not be able to put together my over-taxing schedule, and be happy for the rest of my brain-deadening schedule year. Life (with the exception that I'm in Mexico) is horribly frustrating.

Whoever invented the computer system on which my class schedule is created should be shot. Also, the person with the genius idea of switching over an entire school to block schedule with a crappy computer system that can't run on the schedule the school has been using for thirty years, should be horribly horribly beaten, and left on the side of the road somewhere. The cruel unfairity of the world.

When I get back I am going to have to talk to a counselor (or should I say yell), get my schedule changed, and then probably go to work. I hate the world, or at least a vast minority of it. I hate that minority so much, it would equate out to me hating the whole world.

The Invisible: By far one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. The disappointing thing about this movie is that it should have been really good. The story concept is excellent, but for some reason it was written to be pathetic. The worst part of the whole movie is that the guy who is "sort of" dead falls in love with his murderer. How pathetic is that! Its like the Stockholm syndrome, only worse, and in a movie. Fortunately I saw it at the dollar movie theatre, but even then... 2/5 stars
Freedom Writers: I watched this last night at my grandma's house, and I must say it was one of the best movies I have seen. Based on a true story about a teacher who teaches English in a school in a gang-infested Long Beach school. It is an excellent and inspirational film. 5/5 stars

The good, the bad, and the ugly of working in a record store:

People ask you retarded questions (e.g. How much is the new Honda Civic? First of all, why are you getting a Civic. Second of all, why are you asking a a young kid that works in a CD store?)

Blog: At the rate of which I tend to offend people, in the near future it would probably be a good idea to relocate my residence. Fortunately for me, my grandparents live nearby, and because I go up there so often, it is practically my second home, complete with my own toothbrush and room. So on that fateful night when the entire city decides to come after me, I can step into my jetta and drive away, laughing at the scary-looking, murder-minded folks with pitchforks coming after me. That is when, while driving home from my future hiding place, that it occurred to me. Life is like a peanut.

Life is like a peanut because it is simple, relatively short, smooth, and wonderfully delicious. But, like life, a peanut can get complicated. There is peanut butter, and various other peanut sauces. Peanuts when scrutinized, have fats, trans fats, monosaturated fats, proteins, minerals, and all sorts of other wacky little things that the average person doesn't really understand. In essence, a peanut can be looked at in two ways, simple, or rather complicated and relatively unhealthy. A peanut is like life.

Or is life like a peanut? One can never be sure. Life can be taken simply, or scrutinized and seen as a complicated. Personally I prefer the simple approach to peanuts and to life.

Some people however, choose to think of the only the bad and complicated things that make up peanuts, and not the good simple things. All some people can think about is that peanuts are abundant in LDL ("bad cholestoral"), and thus are horribly bad. People tend to look this way at life. There are numerous people who only see the LDL (Live Die Lie) in life, and not the necessary protein in it.

And that my friends, is why life is like a peanut. Which way will you look at it?

Transformers- This is possibly the best movie I have seen all summer. It was AWESOME! Everything kicks trash, from Shia Lebouf (or something)'s hot co-star to Optimus Prime and Megatron. Being a huge fan of the Transformers as a young lad, this movie rocked my socks off. 5/5 stars
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix-Definitely the best of the five Harry Potter movies. Umbridge was perfect, and it was just a cool movie in general. I haven't recently read the fifth book, so I was cool with everything. 4/5 stars

One of the greatest phenomenas of modern literature happened this Saturday, the release of Harry Potter 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I read it, of course, and it was AWESOME! Everything about it, pure AWESOME (notice all caps). Everything happened perfectly, especially the Ron and Hermione make out scene (which I totally called). It was just AWESOME! Can you say it five times? AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Now how about 20 times? .

Life is going pretty good, I'm working 23 hours this week, which will be the most I've worked all summer. Harry Potter is definitely the answer to everything.

Blog: The last two days have been wonderful. I've flushed toilet paper down the toilet, drunk water, and ate fruit and vegetables (without worrying whether or not they were contaminated). I also, for the first time in two weeks hung out with my friends. It was quite the experience, and most of the time was spent on how much we could make fun of eachother (in humor Sam wouldn't approve of). Then for some inexplicable reason, I did something I hadn't done in forever, girls actually came over to my house and I hung out with them. It was awesome. The strangest part was that they came over when Kyle was talking to them, which is a miracle in and of itself.

My cell phone is malfunctioning (the second time in less than a year), and its starting to tick me off. The screen goes white, or gets jumbled up. Every once in awhile it goes upside down (texting with your phone upside down is pretty fun). But now, after two days I'm going away to Logan for EFY (which my parents are not happy about).

My life has also been invaded by a certain someone who I was convinced (by a source) who was supposedly loathed my very being. Fortunately, I did learn (a month later and from a much more reliable source) that I am not loathed. It is still an invasion, even if only for two hours, I shut myself out of the world for a reason, and I would like to keep it that way. She invades my thoughts, and the thought of my hopeless cause is painful. I hate hopeless causes, and this one is hopeless at best.

Blog: As you may have seen on my last post, I was supposed to leave maybe at ten. I ended up leaving at two (which means 9 hours in the airport). I landed in Miami at 11 pm, and because I there weren't going to be any flights to Dallas and then on to Salt Lake, I got a hotel voucher and once again stayed in a nice hotel. After sleeping horribly (it didn't have anything to do with the hotel), I got up at five (three hours of sleep), got a shuttle to the airport, and eventually caught my flight. I made it home, without one delay, it was one of the best days of my whole trip.

I arrived today at noon in Salt Lake City, twenty four hours late. It didn't matter too much, I was still happy to be home-ish. I say home-ish because I had to stay in Salt Lake for two hours with my dad at his work (he had some stuff he had to do). But its all good, right now I am home. Thats all that matters. I'm smelly, totally unhygenic (I could pass for a crack addict right now), but I'm home. Home in the land of flushable toilet paper, fast internet, normal drivers, hot showers, fireworks, English, good-looking people, and fresh fruit and vegetables. I am home.

I also learned that the class schedule for my school is up. For right now I have:

Blog: Technically I am not in La Paz, I am in El Alto, which is just as bad. They are both in Bolivia... As you can tell I am not using contractions mainly because I am using a Spanish keyboard right now, which is lame.

Last night my plane got cancelled. Cancelled! Cancelled because of some lame mechanical reason. So after I found out I had to wait for about to hours to fix my flight, get a room and vouchers. I wouldn´t have a bed in the Dearden´s apartment, so I decided to take up the offer of staying in a five star hotel that American Airlines provided. It was a nice hotel, however, I didn´t sleep at all because I was worried I would miss my flight (they told us to be at the airport at 5:30). So after four hours of sleep, I got ready, and once again took a taxi to the airport. When I arrived, I learned that I wasn´t allowed to get my boarding pass until 8:30. Actually, not even get my boarding pass, I wasn´t allowed to wait in line! At the time of post I still have one more hour until I can wait in line. If I am lucky, maybe I can make it home by four in the morning, but who knows. Currently, there is no schedule for my plane to leave, but they say around ten. I didnt eat because I was in a hurry to get into the airport, and right now I only have American Dollars (which gives me a horrible exchange rate).

I have met some really cool people though, and they have all been really nice, and I even met some people my age. A lot of people on my flight are starting to clump together and pass around news, which is pretty fun. Other than that I can´t think of a worse place to be, an airport with n idea when you are going to get out. One day, hopefully I will see you all again, but the again, who knows?

That's correct. I got a 4 on my AP U.S. History test. Same grade (as a lot of people) and none of the work. I successfully beat the academic system.

Blog: After rubbing that in, I'd like to say it one more time. I got a 4 on the AP U.S. History test without taking the class. No worksheets, no lunch-time-library-study-time, and the same result (as far as a college would be concerned). Life is easier when you're naturally gifted and intelligent. I needed to rub it in, I can't help myself.

The other day my debit card died (actually lost), you can imagine how depressed that made me. Not only that, but other people knew their scores and I didn't (living in a country a long ways from home will do that to you), and Kyle e-mailed me saying I got a two (which he confessed to lying after I figured that my family wasn't even home). I then e-mailed my mom and dad and and they both said fours, this definitely lightened up my day. I let out a series of whoops, which woke up someone who was sleeping, and then I pranced around a little bit. I also learned that I got a 28 on my ACT (without studying), which means my goal for a 32 (so I can get into Oxford) is feasible. This brightened up my day considerably, and since I got my mom to cancel my debit card, everything turned out to be awesome.

I'm leaving to the airport in roughly an hour, which means that in one hour I will:

Not have anyone correct me
Not have anyone try to change me
Not have anyone to make pointless criticisms of me
Not have anyone think I'm going to change

Life can't get much better than that. Lets be honest, if you had people doing the above said things to you every seconds, you'd be happy to leave irregardless of the circumstances. So I guess with this post I would like to say goodbye to Bolivia

Blog: "Everyone got 4's, but I'm getting a five," at least that's what Sam just said (finally, proof that he is just as arrogant as I am). Congratulations to all the people who got their test scores. Seeing as I am in Bolivia, and my parents aren't electronically hip enough to have e-mail outside of work, I still haven't received my AP (or ACT) test scores. Maybe I'll find out today from my dad, but who knows... Yesterday I biked the world's most dangerous road, which was very rocky. I only almost died a couple of times, and I'm still alive (which I know some people wish wouldn't have happened). Let's be honest, I offend some (or actually, a lot) of people.

The Death Road was pretty fun, the five places listed above hurt. So everyone knows, Kyle bet 500 dollars to Coulsen that I would die, I would like some of the money Coulsen won (after all, it was my choice whether or not to die).
The lack of confidence from friends, and less-friends hurt. After we got to the bottom we went to this really cool animal reserve place and I played with some Monkeys and Ocelots.
I have to keep reminding myself that today is pretty much the last day I'll be in Bolivia, and then I'll probably never have to see Sam again (you wouldn't care to see him again after spending two weeks with him). He is just picking really retarded things to argue about, such as attacking my pseudonym, just pointless arguing. After all, is my pseudonym and him saying its stupid isn't going to change anything. And then of course he goes on to point out that I'm not as good as a writer than his precious BYU 100 Hour Board. I would hope not, most of those guys are going through Master's programs. Honestly? Is Sam an idiot? The event that sparked this took place roughly 2 minutes ago. I can't wait to get home, away from idiotic and unintelligent criticisms, and self-obsessed "superior" humor. One more day, one more day...

Blog: In the States the Fourth of July always means fireworks, unfortunately in Bolivia it doesn't. It sort of sucks, but that means I'm going to have to make the twenty fourth a much bigger celebration to compensate. So far I have taken two hot showers, which is freakin' awesome. The first time I took a hot shower, I made a song to the tune of here in your arms by Hellogoodbye, it goes something like this:

As you can see its not a very good adaptation, but I did make it up on the spot so I'm proud of myself. This morning I also went to a place called El Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), and it was way sweet. When I get home I'm going to make sure to post up all my pictures from Bolivia (at least the good ones). This morning I also read the entire Harry Potter 1 today, which made me feel good. I don't particularly care for Huck Finn (English summer reading part 2), plus I forgot how much I enjoyed the first Harry Potter (primarily because I really just like detailed worlds, even though action is nice). Its just so fun to read the things J.K. Rowling has invented and adapted, she goes up for one of my author heroes for that.
Sam's little brother Ben (who is 14) plays my Nintendo DS constantly, and it is starting to get a little annoying. I also think that if I have to hear Sam's "proffesional" view and criticisms of the world again I'm either going to:
a) Jump off a building
b) Jump off a cliff
c) Ride a bus in Israel
d) Throw him off a cliff/building/tall place

Its just getting really irritating, my parents were right, two and a half weeks with the same people will drive you crazy. In this case, the only people driving me crazy are Sam and Ben. Betsy (Sam's mom) is awesome, and so is his Dad and two younger sibblings. Betsy reads aloud to Eli (the youngest), and I listen, because she is really good at reading aloud.

Awesome things from our new apartment:

There aren´t any drunkards nearby that I know of.
Our neighbor lady is really nice.

Blog: All the internet cafés were closed on Sunday, so I couldn´t enter something for the first of June. Saturday night we went to a concert by a guy named Ernesto Cavour. He is supposed to be the best charrango player in the world. In case you don´t know, a charrango is this funky little guitar invented by the Andean people. It also has two strings where one string on a guitar should be. Its pretty cool.

On Sunday we went to church. It ¨started¨ at nine. This was sort of a pain because I haven´t woken up before 10:30 this whole trip. I say ¨started¨ because when we got there at nine, we were the first people there. By the time people started coming in it was around 9:20, and sacrement meeting didn´t start until 9:30. It was sort of funny. Like all first Sundays of the month in the LDS church it was fast sunday, and that meant fast and testimony meeting.

Fast and testimony meeting was pretty awesome, even though I didn´t really understand what most of the people were saying. This one twelve-year-old kid who thinks I´m pretty cool sat by me the whole time, and I just talked to him. There was one part where one of the Counselor´s got up and bore his testimony. I had met him before when I did fast offerings, and I knew he was able to speak English. In the middle of his testimony he said, ¨Now for my brothers and sisters from the United States, I will bare you my testimony. I know that Joseph Smith and Gordon B. Hinckley are prophets, and that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God.¨ I don´t think I´ll ever forget that as long as I live, it was incredible. I then procceded to translate what he said to my little Bolivian friend.

Today, for some odd reason I woke up with the song ¨What I´ve done¨ by Linkin Park in my head. Its sort of random song to wake up to don´t you think? Everything is fine again, and I was able to get some space Saturday night, and I feel better about being around Sam a ton again, plus he and his brother have stopped telling repetitive jokes. Here is a good one though:

I just thought that was hilarious. I´ve learned a reall cool card game, its called Mormon Baseball, I think its really supposed to be called Hell, but I´m not sure.

We moved into our new apartment today, just in case you couldn´t tell from my list, and its pretty cool. It has seventy´s style decor, and is really nice. We might even be able to get internet which would be nice because this new internet café by us costs 3 bs per hour (only 10 cents more, but still).

I guess I´m less homesick now, Saturday was like hump day, and once you get over it everything is good. Especially because now it isn´t so third world country-ish.

Blog: Its day five in Bolivia, I think I have 12 days left. Not that Bolivia isn´t great, but I like my creature comforts, and fluency in the English language. I did fast offerings (a tithe done on fast sunday) with the young men in my Bolivian ward (or branch I´m not sure), and it was way cooler than normal because I got to talk to my partners (in spanish) about life in Bolivia and life in the States. Minimum wage in Bolivia is 1.25 bs (13 cents) and when I told them I make 6 dollars an hour, they were floored. It takes them an entire day of work (six hours) to get one dollar. The thought it was funny how things are more expensive in the U.S., especially haircuts and ice cream. They almost died when I told them a movie ticket is 7.75 USD (somewhere around 50bs), because here an evening showing is 25 bs (4 USD).

Last night Sam, Ben and I were approached by some Bolivian stoners who asked us if we wanted some pot, it was actually kind of funny. I also finished one of my two books for English summer reading. It was the book that we could choose, and I chose Angela´s Ashes. Although I primarily chose it because it said objectionable content and language in parenthesis next to it on my sheet, I really enjoyed it. My mom had read it before and she really like it. It´s sad, funny, disturbing, and thought provoking all at the same time. The only part I found that would fit under the objectionable content was near the last 50 pages or so. But it was a sweet book. Highly recomend it.

I think I´m starting to spend to much time with Sam, and I´m starting to lose my mind. He´s a cool friend and all, but spending everyday with him is starting to kill me. If this is missionary prep, I´m probably going to fail. Him and his brother say they have a higher form of humour than me, but think its funny everytime they say my fingers are long. I think its funny, but five days straight and at least once an hour is going to put me in the insane asylum.

I hate to admit it , but I am getting a little homesick.

Blog: Yesterday Sam´s man bag got slit, and he lost about 20 bs., it was funny to me. We also ate at this awesome restaurant called Dumbo, an upscale Bolivian restaurant with delicious food, delicious cake, and really good ice cream. It was the first restaurant i´ve gone to where the ice cream was ¨safe¨ (not contaminated with Bolivian water). That made me very happy, and I ordered some ice cream (which was delicious). I want to go back and get one of their ice cream dishes (which are a meal in and of themselves).

Last night I got schooled by Sam and his younger brother Ben. I got worked pretty bad, and nothing was sacred (especially my fingers, and my love life). I got Sam sometimes, and Ben is just too weird to make fun of. Of course, the final score was like 500 to 3 (in their favor).

Then I was put through the pain of playing the stupidest card game ever, Mao. ¡Oh no! I said something bad about the game, so penalize me. Why can´t you just tell people the rules? Its retarded. Everytime I´m forced to play there is some new rule I´ve been following, but who knows... Of course the worst part is when the first game ends and the winner gets to make up a rule without telling anyone, its absolutlely horrid. Then when I make up a rule, its against the rules, even though I won. ¿Whats up with that? So what if I want to make everyone say that I´m the best, I think its fine, but there is some stupid rule that Mao is the best, and your not allowed to say Mao, so penalize me twice. Mao Mao Mao Mao Mao. Then I make up a rule where everyone has to say that I´m the second best right below ¨Our Great Leader¨(because you can´t say Mao), and then I get penalized for being self-centered. Oh the irritatingness of it all. Thats how dumb this game is, I´m making up words to tell how mad I am. To retaliate I started trying to penalize Sam for stupid things, that made him mad, which made me happy. Stupid, Stupid game (that´s right the second stupid is capitalized).

On a much happier note, and my title, I met some Bolivian college students today. They were sweet. Fortunately for me, they were both English students, and wanted to practice English. Our conversation carried in part English and part Spanish, and I gotta talk about contractions (which I use) and slang (which I use a lot). It was awesome, Sam knew more Spanish, but its ok. The moral of this story is that Bolivians are real people (like me), and not the weird people that you read in tourist books. Of course, I was able to talk to them about American culture, which helped me analyze my own culture. Sam and I gave them our e-mail addresses, after we talked to them for an hour. One´s name is Ricahrd, who wants to be a lawyer, and the other´s name is Juan (who wants to be a linguist).

Oh yes, and the best graffiti so far is a stencil of George Bush with the word tonto (idiot) underneath. It was awesome.

Blog: La Paz is rampant with stray dogs, so it is not uncommon for one to see dog feces on the sidewalk (watch your step). The city constantly smells of excrement and smog, but when you pass a bakery a delicious smell fills your nostrils, even the the paint some guy was spraying smelt good. As I went through the streets I turned over to see a Cholita (native women) squatting on a road. I found this very curious, but continued walking. Thats when Betsy turned to me and said, ¨Not all the poop is animal poop¨. I felt nauseous, there was a woman taking a crap on the street! Who does that? Obviously some Bolivians.

As I toured La Paz, visiting various parks and a cathedral, a came up with a how to guide. Here it is:

How to: A Guide to Life in Bolivia

How to use the restroom:

Lift up toilet seat.
Excrete waste in prefered form and style.
If you feel the need to wipe, do so.
If you wiped, dispose of toilet paper in nearby garbage can.
Flush toilet and leave.

How to drive:

Enter car.
Turn on car, and pull out of curb.
Do not obey any lane signs, and create as many lanes as needed.
When you come upon a pedestrioan, maintain speed and honk once.
In most cases the pedestrian moves to the side.
If the pedestrian does not, continue onwards and hit them, or break right before, sparing their lives.

How to communicate:

Listen to the person and try to make out what you can.
If you do not understand, look at your friend.
Allow your friend to answer for you.
If you are alone nod your head, and say some words in the foreign language.
Smile when the other person does, the politely leave.
If the person is asking if you would like something (a shoeshine or sunglasses or something of that nature) immediately smile and say, ¨No gracias¨if the person persists, continue to walk and say ¨No gracias¨over and over.

How to take a shower:

After fiddling for at least five minutes find the warmest water you can.

Blog: I learened a few hard rules about spanish today. Whenever you state something obvious people don´t find it cute, especially people your same age. I saw some teenage kids playing DOTA (a game that I enjoy playing on Warcraft III: Frozen Throne), excited to see something familiar in a foreign country oth¡er than Burger King and Coke I walked up to the kid and exclaimed in horrible spanish, ¨¿Juegas Dota? ¡En Los Estados Unidos Juego Dota tambien!¨ Of course all my fellow teenager heard was, ¨Bla bla bad spanish DOTA bla bad spanish bla¨ He gave me a sort of dirty look that translates perfectly into english, and I left, finding that Samuel had left me alone in the internet cafe.

The other lesson I learned is that not everything translates very well. I found all sorts of funny translations that had probably been translated through Google Translator. Some of the best were from a restaurant Sam had gone to a few years ago:

Pique a lo macho (a really good dish that I ate, is typically thought of as a manly dish)-Itch to the man thing (Picar in spanish is to itch, bad translation)
Carne de Llama (Meat of Llama I have yet to find)-Meat of he/she calls (llamar means to call in spanish, and llama is the he/she/formal you form)
Maté (a type of tea)-Kill (matar in spanish is to kill, and maté is the command form)

Bolivia has been a really great experience, and our death ride (a bike ride down the most dangerous road in the world) has been moved to next week because of some technicalities. The food (and especially the bread) is delicious, even better than the bread I had in France, so the French can shove it. I´m getting a little sick of the constant folk music playing everywhere I go (pan pipes and charrangos are cool and all), I miss my music.

I also slept 12 hours last night, which was awesome, and Sam had a dream that he was in Harry Potter. The kicker was that he told me he was tortured in some dungeon, and told me not to tell, of course I did. For some reason a girl we know from school walked up to him and asked him if he had been tortured in a dungeon (which sam had) at which point sam mumbled to himself, ¨I knew I shouldn´t have told I should have told Ron and Hermione¨.¨

¿The moral of the story? Sam wishes he had Harry Potter´s friends instead of me.

Sam said I talked in my sleep, one quote he was able to decipher was this: If life is like a box of chocoaltes, then what doesn´t everything taste good?¨and ¨¿Why can´t girls be...¨after that Sam said I started mumbling.

Life in a 3rd world country:

Good if you´re from a developed country and visiting
Things are dirt cheap, quite literally, some dirt is more expensive than the things I can buy.
Bad if you are a lifelong resident and an indian

You can do crazy things, like scream out of cars
You don´t have to obey traffic laws.
Gatorade is more expensive

Blog: ¡Hola! Estoy en Bolivia, un pais en America del Sur cerca de Peru. Estoy en La Paz un de dos capitales en Bolivia (el otro es Sucre). Mi español es mas peor que Samuel (mi amigo en Bolivia). That was me trying to practice spanish, because I can´t understand a word most people are saying. Everything is dirt cheap, here are a list of prices in USD (American Dollars):

Thats just a vague idea of some of the prices I have down here. All my plane flights were delayed an hour or two, so I arrived in Bolivia at around 6:45 a.m. local time. It was quite an experience, and I actually slept pretty well. Sam isn´t such a bad roomate/rowmate, I´m bummed I´m going to have to fly back by myself (the whole plane ride, including layovers) will be somewhere around 18 hours.

I can´t understand a word most people are saying so I just say ¨no thank you¨ (in spanish of course). Their are ladies that we call cholitas, and they look really funny. Traffic is absolutely insane, and so far I´ve only seen three traffic lights (this is for a city of over a million people).

For now, I´ll post again later, my hour is almost up. Here are a few signs on the spanish keyboard as opposed to the english one:

Most of the letters are in the same places except that ç thing and the ñ, which are near the enter sign. Those screw me up.

Wyoming and Being a Loser

Blog: Its been a long time, and I'm amazed how easy it is to get out of habit. I dreaded for nearly a week the thought of going up to visit my paternal grandmother (who is a little nutty) and her husband (number three) on their mission in Martin's Cove, Wyoming. Martin's Cove is essentially a Mormon hotspot where youth go to learn about what it was like to be a pioneer. Martin's Cove is where the Martin & Willy handcart companies got stranded in a snowstorm and a bunch of them died. Unfortunately, Martin's Cove is in Wyoming, and as you can see in my list above, Wyoming isn't that exciting.

For two days prior to my trip I did absolutely nothing fun, or cool. I didn't hang out with anyone (anyone of course being people on my cell phone contacts list), which was very sad. I don't know why I didn't post something on my blog, that would have been more constructive than banging my head against my desk for a half an hour. On my second night of boredom I was accompanied by Tanner but we still didn't do anything. The next day I drove to Wyoming with my family, my aunt, my uncle, and my hyperactive, mentally disabled cousin. Before I left I did some shopping for my Bolivian trip, and bought two new Nintendo DS games, both of which I played on the trip up. They were so much fun, and I'm thoroughly addicted to the New Super Mario Bros.

Halfway through the trip my cousin started to irritate me, its not that I don't love her, but she goes nonstop 24/7, and it wears you out. And because I expected nothing from my trip, I was pleasantly suprised and had a good time. In Wyoming I visited Independence Rock, and I've decided to make a goal to go back and carve my name in it, even though I do risk a hefty fine.

Yesterday, my friends and I sat around my house, and still couldn't find anything to do. One of my neighbors, who is sort of popular asked us, while we were sitting outside if we wanted to go play fugitive. We heartedly agreed, and drove up to Rock Canyon Park, all of us were excited. When we got there however, we were sorely disappointed. We transformed into invisible creatures, and when people started to leave, we simply left without being noticed. Last night I came to the realization that the world hates me. Boo hoo.

Tomorrow I venture off to Bolivia, where I will try to update my blog at the internet cafes.

Telling people, who have been waiting for you, you went to a gas station after you got lost makes them angry
Air conditioning is a gift from God

Blog: Hola! As you can see I haven't posted for a while. Most of the time I was in southern Utah in a place called Pariah Canyon, and when I got back I fell asleep, and the next day was Father's Day so I couldn't really do anything.

The desert was fun, and hot. We left the church at like five o'clock, so we didn't get to where our camp was supposed to be until midnight, fortunately it was seventy degrees outside when we arrived. After we set up camp, we managed to climb into bed at about two thirty in the morning, and we had to wake up early the next morning. After breakfast we had to split up into groups of ten so the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) wouldn't get mad at us. I was sort of ticked because I couldn't go with my friends, all of who were in the other group. The adults in my group were cool, but I was still pretty upset, because most of the other guys in my group were irritating (except one). We set off second, and after four hours we found out we were lost. At about fourty minutes into our hike we took a wrong turn and hiked two and a half miles in shadeless 105 degree weather. After discovering we were lost, we turned around and hiked another two and a half miles. When we reached the first part of the slot canyon (which averages around seventy degrees inside), my group decided to take a nap so we could rest up and conserve water (which was almost all gone). We did finally make it to our cars (back at the beginning) and everyone was out of water. We toasted our being alive with ice cold water and sprite. Then we decided, since we deserved it, that we should drive to a gas station that was in a nearby town and get food and drinks. I got a 44oz wild cherry Pepsi, which I downed in like two minutes. We then headed back to camp, and kept trying to tell the other group that we were ok, and that they should go back.

Upon reaching camp, we discovered that the other group had not arrived, and decided to arrange a "rescue party". We restocked our camel backs with water, and I just carried my cup that still had some ice in it, so I could tag along. When we did make contact with the group, the headed to meet us. Instead of meeting joyful sighs of relief, I meet scowls of anger. Primarily because I made a big deal about how we went to a gas station. The had run out of water a few hours earlier, so we gave them our camel backs and hiked back up to camp. On the way back Taylor apologized to me about the stuff he said, which made me feel good. I guess now all he has to do is apologize to my dad (who knows if that will happen though). It felt good to have him apologize, and I was suprised how less angry it made me.

That night I stepped on a cactus, and my foot hurt really bad. I had needles every where, and after pulling out all the big ones I could see, Kevin had to get the pliers and pull out the small ones I could feel. We pulled out over thirty needles. My Dad and I left the next morning while everyone else hiked, primarily because my foot still killed, and he had another issue I don't want to talk about. When we made it home, I crashed on my bed for two hours.

I woke up to my cell phone ringing, and when I picked it up I found out it was Chase. Chase wanted to go on a date, in two hours! That of course goes against everything I stand for, I try to at least ask three days before, but I did my duty and called up a girl. We went to see Fantastic Four 2, and then went to Cold Stone, which was fun. When I got home I went to bed, and then "celebrated" Father's Day, and went up to my Grandma and Grandpa's house, which was way fun. Unfortunately, I learned that I'm being forced to go up to Wyoming and visit my other Grandma (who I don't like as much) and her newest husband Thane. When I got home my family watched School for Scoundrels. Today, for some reason is one the first day in a while where I have been happy, which makes me happy.

Movie Reviews:

Fantastic Four 2:Rise of the Silver Surfer-After seeing the first one I was a little bit hesitant, but it still looked cool, and it was (suprisingly!). The story line was pretty good, and the fight scenes were sweet. The movie was good, even though the lines were sort of cheesey. 3 1/2 stars.
School for Scoundrels: Jon Heder and Billy Bob Thorton star in this comedy about a guy who is a wuss, and the class he joins to change that. Thorton runs the class, and is quite a deviant. Heder does a good job, even though the humor is a little crude (but still hilarious). A comedy movie to watch alone. 2 1/2 stars.

Mood: Boys Like Girls, John Mayer Trio

Just a note, I believe music adequately expresses mood better than words we use to describe emotions. So because of this, my mood is expressed by what band I feel like listening to at the time of this post. In this case its Boys Like Girls and the John Mayer Trio (two new albums I bought).
Now for my daily lists:

Now that I've gotten that across in two different phrases, I feel much better. Sometimes I think people just don't get it. They try to do something to make them feel good, but just come straight up and say it, or because usually you don't know what you're talking about, don't say it.

A brain
A chilled personality
A not suspicious personality (especially with me)

Loyalty

I have noticed through my friends that a cell phone greatly increases the longevity of a relationship.

Blog:

Work two days ago went horrible, not only was it slow, but it was also a lot of work. All I did was alphabetize (thats how cd's get to where they are supposed to be, and in alphabetical order), and put out thousands of cd's. One can only take so much before his brain begins to burst. I expected that any minute my brain was going to explode, thus blowing open my head and sending brain bits all over the store, where the brain bits would wiggle like worms. I could only imagine what it would say in the police reports: Death by Alphabetizing too much. That would be sort of embarrassing. In order to prevent this I simply stopped thinking (which aleviated some of the pain) and walked around mechanically. Fortunately for you, I'm still alive, I think.

The when I got home I partied with Tanner and Kyle and Chad, and Babraham and Emily and Noelia and Kuhni (the last five of which I have not seen in like a month). That made me very happy, and I got updated on stuff that has been going on in the world outside of my house.

Yesterday I had work, which sucked less, and I did really well on sales, which made me feel good. I also decided to spend the store credit I won in a contest and got the John Mayer Trio album, and The Boys Like Girls Album. Suprisingly, they both fit the mood I was in last night and this morning perfectly. I got home a little later than normal, so I couldn't really go anywhere, but I picked up my sister and we talked about her junior high problems, and when I got home I talked to Tanner's dad with my family.

The greatest miracle happened this morning however, my iPod works again! I guess this dispells all of my theories that Apple is trying to make me get a new iPod and get rid of my mini. However, I have prevailed! On top of that I only have about 94 megabites on my iPod left, and everything on my iPod has come from my iTunes, which makes me feel cool.

Then I went to lunch with Tanner, Albino, Kevin and myself, and I felt segregated. Primarily because the two people who have girlfriends (Tanner and Kevin) were sitting in the front, and Albino and I were in the back.

I will be gone for the next three days, and unfortunately there is not internet in the middle of the desert, so I won't be able to post til Saturday night/Sunday morning -ish. Have an awesome summer week without me friends!

Theories and Reviews

Mood: Hinder
Because I didn't start this blog til one third of the way through summer, I have to catch up on some of my reviews and theories that I have invented thus far.
First I'll go over the movies I have watched, either on DVD or the movie theatre:

Stomp the Yard-Basic black movie like Drumline, I think I saw one white person (not that that was a bad thing), I ended the movie feeling that "stepping" is pretty much a glorified drill team for men. The filming during the dancing was sort of funky, which was unfortunate because the dance scenes would have otherwise been cool. 3/5 stars.
Pirates of the Carribean 3-I don't know if this is even worth putting up because I'm pretty sure everyone has seen it (who doesn't love Johnny Depp as Captain Jack? Plus there is Orlando for the ladies, and Kiera Knightly for the guys). I thought it was pretty good, they left it open for a fourth one, but with enough closure to end the series. 4/5 stars
Pan's Labrynth-I remembered reading about it in Time, and when it got traded into Graywhale I immediately decided to check it out. It is in Spanish (unfortuantely for me, its in Spain Spanish which is a little different than the Spanish I learn in school) with English subtitles, and has to be one of the greatest films I have seen in a while. The filming and animation are superb. Rated R for rockin' it, I think its only rated R because of one scene where a guy gets his face bashed in (I closed my eyes, it was sort of gross). 5/5 Stars
Ocean's 13: Everyone knows the first one rocked, and the second one, well, rocked a lot less. Ocean's 13 is back in the same style as Ocean's 11, and almost as good. 4/5

Now one to some theories that I have been theorizing:

Do the guys who get all the girls cheat on them because that is they way they are, or do guys cheat on them because they can get all the girls?
Are the hot girls always mean? Or are they mean because they're hot?
Why are most nerds generally not good-looking? Or are they nerds because they are generally not good-looking?

Overall these three can be summarized as disposition vs enviroment. I think I'm voting for enviroment.

Blog: Work was most incredibly slow, and it seemed like at 7 o'clock we should start closing. But of course, in true fashion, we stayed open til we were supposed to close. It was also new release night. For those of you who don't know, the entertainment industry (excluding games) are released on Tuesday, which means for me, everything has to go up Monday night. But, my assistant manager decided to take a smoke break and talk to my ex-manager (who mysteriously showed up) for a half an hour. This means, instead of finishing the new releases by ten, we had to stay after and do it because he decided to have a chat. This sort of upset me, not because I had to stay late, but because we could have gotten it done. Today I went to my Grandma's house, and I slept the whole time, I don't know what happened to me. I have work tonight, and I'm working with my manager, which means I can't take a mental break for five hours ugh.

Because I have a blog now I feel cool, even though like five people have read it. Thats just the way I roll though, I feel hip, electronically hip. I have also just discovered a list button so I'm going to put it to the test, here it goes. A list of things I don't like:

Coolest discoveries:

CMT.com has non-country music videos so I can mix it up when I'm in the country and other stuff mood.

If the you explain explicitly to the guys at Gandalfo's how you like your Little Italy it tastes delectible.
Country music (not really a discovery, but a rediscovery, its been a while)

Last night I posted a very secretive thing that I shouldn't have, and I was afraid the person I was upset at was going to find out and come over and murder me, or the blog police were going to come over or something. So at one o'clock I got tired of sleeping and edited it, and then slept well. As you can see I'm still alive, and I didn't get arrested by the blog police (this isn't China after all). Then I wen't to guitar lessons and played guitar. I then went out to lunch with Jon (its spelt that way because his real name is Jonathon, not to be confused with John/Johnny, my missionary cousin), and then we went to see Ocean's 13, which was pretty good. It felt good talking to Jon now that he is back from California and more or less recovered from his break-up with his girlfriend of nine months. We had an awesome time, and talked about cool things. Thats when I discovered number seven on my coolest discoveries list.

I also developed a list of things I wish would happen:

Girls were poor communicators to eachother, just like guys.
Girls thought independently from one another (think the Articles of Confederation, not the USSR)
Roses wouldn't have thorns, so life would be fair (emo joke for the day)
I could read both my English summer reading books in five seconds.
Summer reading wasn't invented (along with homework, and clothing)
Girls actually really enjoyed the mushy/freaky parts in a movie and just didn't pretend to
The Female-sex would mature as fast in the emotional-liking-someone-way as their male counter parts
I could talk to someone without them thinking I'm flirting
Albino never learned how to shimmy (my eyes still burn)
Guys could watch chick flicks by themselves in peace
Everything was an even, nice sounding number (like the ratio 30:3)
Girls don't get "scared" when someone likes them (what am I going to do? honestly)

This one is hopefully a reprieve from last nights, pardon my language.

The Innaugural Post

Welcome to my very first blog post! I've been promising myself and others that I would be doing this for like five months, but you know, school has a lot of work. But now that it is summer I have way to much freetime, and I decided to do something constructive. Not only that, but I would imagine this would fill a Duty to God requirement (for those of you who are not LDS, its a sort of scout-esque program with more focus on church stuff). Now that I've begun, I will start off with a short list about me. Here it is:

First and foremost, I love music, and movies, and games!

I work in a record store/movie/game store called Graywhale

Unfortunately its owned by my Dad, but sometimes thats a good thing

I like colors, and I like numbers, nice even ratio'ed numbers that would make pretty colors

I'm very random, and my brain functions completely different than everyone elses

I'm on a quest to become a guitar/serenade guy, I'd feel cool if I was

I'm pretty smart, which sounds conceited, but when people tell you you are, I think its ok.

I always like girls who hate me, its a gift

I'm LDS, and no I do not have horns or multiple mothers

I have ONE mom One dad and a sister

I'm the oldest

I like to think and make random hypothesis's

And just now I couldn't figure out how to spell the plural of hypothesis, but you get the idea

I like contractions

I'm touchy

I have no personal bubble

Now to the blog part:

I lost a friend a few days ago. The sad thing is that he isn't dead, I think I would feel better if he wasn't my friend because he died. It seems like over the past few days he metamorphed into his mother, who is a self-centered bitch, excuse the language, but he told me that. He's become exactly like her, it makes me sad. A few days ago he quit the job my dad got both of us (which I'm totally cool with). However, he did it three minutes before his shift started, and without two weeks notice (a little less O.K. with). Then I texted him and told him that it was unproffesional, explained to him why we don't get paid much (non-skill, non-manual labor? what would you expect) and then he insulted my family. He said, "Your father is the most unproffesional man I have ever met." (it was a text message so the "I" wasn't capitalized, but other than that it is a direct quote). That hurt me, and if he gets near me, I'm afraid I'm going to beat the crap out of him. What a self-centered asshole (excuse the language), but I guess you never really know someone. I wish he had died, I think I would have been less sad if that happened instead of him becoming his mother. If he says he loves her it is (or was) a lie, but now he is just like her.

On top of that, a girl, and possibly her friends, hate me. The original girl that hates me (you know how girls are) is mad because I told her she has similar interests with a friend of mine a.k.a. Albino. Stupid reason to be mad? I think so. But you know how girls are, my main source is because on her blog it says straight up, [Drake Frost] is a manwhore, don't ever speak to him. I love you anyways. Even if her friends are still forbidden to talk to me, Janelle, I think you're awesome, and Tess you rock my world.

A more recent thing, Albino's little brother gave a talk in church, and it was hilarious.
